I read this thanks to [livejournal.com profile] ladymoonray's rec, and I'm passing the love on.

Author: [livejournal.com profile] sam_storyteller
Title: Trying to Communicate
Fandom: Torchwood crossover (not telling what it's crossed over with, that would spoil the surprise :-) )
Rating: PG
Characters: Team, hints of Jack/Ianto
Spoilers: Through 2.07, Dead Man Walking (although I've only watched the first two episodes of the first series, and I didn't notice being spoiled at all)
Summary: There's an alien in the Hub, and it's trying to communicate. This borders perilously on crackfic.

Chimerical Romantics by [livejournal.com profile] dsudis. Bandom, Gerard/Frank, 19th Century AU, 22,315 words.
Warnings for explicit sex, dubious historicity, vodka, sodomy, and the lash. Gerard is a gentleman, Frank is a sailor. *glee!*

Basic Training Part 1: Selection (Prologue) by [livejournal.com profile] lusiology Harry Potter, Auror fic, Harry/Draco, PG-13, 770 words.
Draco made the grade, but will he survive Basic Training and Potter.

The Handsome Stranger part 14: The Night Train by [livejournal.com profile] dragon_charmer Harry Potter, AU, Harry/Veela!Draco, R.
Trains and planes and decisions. Mention of mpreg. Fluff ... lots and lots of fluff!!

I'm going to do a whole post of recs from the fests at some point, but I just have to rec this right away:

Own Two Legs.

This is a long, long story, told forwards for Draco and backwards for Harry, of their relationship with one another over the course of decades. It includes Harry/Ginny and Draco/spouse but with no adultery drama, no wifehate and no sense, for me, of infidelity. The emotions were very real and believable, the characters growing and becoming deeper people. The sex is lyrically written and very hot, but isn't really the point. Oh, and there are typos and missed words aplenty, but please, please ignore them and keep reading. It's well worth it.

First, another of [livejournal.com profile] elfwreck's clear-headed and insightful posts on why arguments against fanfic don't stand up: Anti-Fanfic Bingo, Round 2, part 1

Second, a beautiful ficlet: Jack's Got Crabs PotC-AWE, Rating: W for Weird. Non-Explicit. More or less, Summary: Even in Davy Jones' Locker, Jack finds allies.

I haven't been reccing many stories from the fests this year, but this one, this one...

Elegy for Vincent Crabbe: Dance Suite in Five Movements for Viola and Marimba (rated NC17 for sex)

This story is so beautifully paced. Just gorgeous, and oh so very believable to me.
